Topic: Living Unto The Lord [Sunday November 15, 2015]
Text: Romans 14:1-9
Key Verse: “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived that he might be Lord both of the dead and living” (Romans 14:8,9).
Paul the apostle, said in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”. This is a summary of the life of one who, after being separated from God by sin, has truly repented and accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour. A believer should always make a bold statement about his stand in Christ and also of his level of spiritual maturity.
The lesson for believers today is that eating anything should not be seen as a moral matter. Our personal attitude about eating or not eating should not lead us to unjustly condemn one another. And concerning estimating one day above another, we must rise beyond such parochial definition. We are to give every day in the week unto God. The first day of the week however is recognized in the New Testament as having a special significance because of Christ’s resurrection.
Thought for the day: Eat, drink and do all things to the glory of God.
