Topic: I am Satisfied [Saturday 26 September, 2015]
“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”-1 Timothy 6:6
One major challenge confronting families today is dissatisfaction. People are not satisfied with what they have per time. Nothing is ever enough, they always want more. When they are blessed with a thing, other than appreciating God, they complain about the make or compare theirs to that of others. Some people even go about comparing their spouses with their neighbour, thus hampering the relationship in their home.
One way you can tell if you are covetous is when you keep having a strong urge to possess something you probably don’t need, especially because someone else has it. God urges us to mix godliness with contentment, especially in our homes. Lack of contentment gets people to scheme and plan to collect what rightfully belongs to another and that’s evil.
I believe this is the root cause of polygamy and other negative marital issues. A man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possession. Life is much more than materialism, fame and wastefulness. Many troubled marriages are not spiritually attacked as it were, but they have opened the door to the devil by being “possession possessed.”
Contentment brings peace in the home. It makes you work with little as though it was much and even when it becomes much, you are fit to manage it to avoid waste. As covenant people, be assured of the fact that where you are today is the least place you will ever be. So, while you work, be satisfied with what you have in all ramifications, as you aspire to get to where God ordained for your family. You will not miss it in the name of Jesus Christ!
