NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – (NOVEMBER 19, 2021) Village Lights, a multi-cultural worship group, has released their full-length debut, Kingdom, today. Sarah Kroger, Ricky Vazquez, and Ike Ndolo make up the group. The self-titled EP by Village Lights established their heartbeat: one of togetherness, inclusivity, and reconciliation wrapped in worshipful devotion. Village Lights regard themselves as more than a band; they see themselves as a movement for those seeking justice in our world and in the Church. Matt Maher, a Grammy-nominated producer who also serves as the group’s coach, oversaw the production.

“Music is always better when it’s made in a group, “Matt Maher, a well-known worship leader and songwriter, agrees. “This necessitates a high level of trust. This is a fundamental reality that every great artist understands. Art is finest when it is shared. I like this group’s openness to include so many people in their creative process, and I’m thrilled to work with them as a producer to turn their treatment of the liturgical year’s end into a collaborative work of song for the Church and the believer’s trek.”

The group was motivated by the ancient liturgical feast of “Christ the King of the Universe,” which was instituted in the church at a period when nationalism was on the rise around the world. The feast was intended to bring God’s people together around the premise that our allegiances should be to our King, Jesus Christ. Each song is based on the Scriptures associated with that feast day, creating an immersive auditory, aesthetic, and religious experience.

“We feel like this is a very timely record,” shares Village Lights. “There seems to be an urgent need now more than ever for all God’s people to unite under Christ and His kingship. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands. (Revelation 7:9) We hope this record can be a soundtrack that moves people toward unity.”
Accompanying this special project are stunning music videos that were shot in Sedona, AZ. Each video intentionally brings a visual element to remind and showcase the beauty and greatness of God. This weekend, Village Lights will be leading worship for the National Catholic Youth Conference with more than 12,000 in attendance and more tuning in virtually.
